Poland IBAN Format, Length and Example

Poland uses a 28-character IBAN, the longest format among the 15 country pages published here. The Swift IBAN Registry describes the 24-digit Polish BBAN as an eight-digit bank identifier followed by a sixteen-digit account number. The complete international value adds PL and two international check digits. Because the BBAN is long and numeric, print grouping is especially useful for comparison, but those spaces are not part of the digital value and should be removed without dropping any group.

When copying a Polish IBAN from a PDF or invoice, check the beginning, middle, and final groups against the source before validation. Long values can wrap onto a second line, lose leading zeroes in spreadsheets, or absorb a customer number printed after the account. Repeated zeros can also hide a missing digit. MOD97-10 checks the complete normalized value and catches many single-character or transposition errors, but a green result cannot show whether the invoice supplied the intended account for the named beneficiary.

The eight-digit bank identifier has a defined position in the Polish BBAN, yet BankCodeKit does not use it for live bank or branch resolution. Keep BIC, recipient name, amount, and transfer reference in separate fields and follow the payment provider's instructions for each. For bulk checks, review the exported CSV as sensitive data because it can retain every pasted value. If a vendor changes Polish payment details, confirm the change independently. Format and checksum evidence do not prove account existence, control, reachability, or payment success.
